Let there be.. RACES! - 2013 Race Schedule

2012 was amazing for so many reasons, but it's that time...

It's time to look ahead and be hopeful.  It's time to be excited and get down to business.  It's time to look at your weaknesses and really address the details (like my swimming issues! below)!

It's time to start planning a year that intrigues us and allows us to get out of bed at 0'dark thirty, leave our warm beds behind and jump in a cold pool (UGH - not my favorite!).

It's time for a race schedule that gets your heart pumping and let's you start dreaming.  That's where I am.. no looking back.. just looking forward!

So here it is without further ado.. the 2013 (tentative) schedule!

San Juan 70.3 - 3/17

New Orleans 70.3 - 4/21

Ironman Texas - 5/18

Rev 3 Williamsburg - 6/23

Ironman Lake Placid - 7/28

That's as far out as I'm going to go right now!  Other races on the "possible" list are Rev 3 Branson, Augusta 70.3, Muskoka 70.3 and finally an Ironman AZ or Cozumel at the end of the year.

This year is the year to finally put a few together.  I'm not going to be chasing points until the second half of the year to see if maybe a Kona spot could be in the cards for 2014.  My coach and I are very realistic about what it takes to get there and how many people are trying to get there (and it's a ton).  I also have to look at funding and what it would take to chase those points.  Right now I just don't have the capability to fly everywhere necessary to make it happen.  Hopefully, some of what I learned last year and the confidence that I finally had at the end of the year will carry over.  Out of all the things I would like, that is my #1 (along with being healthy and happy and finally settling the score in Lake Placid - we are currently 1-1).

I want to learn how to race consistently and smartly this year and SHOW my fitness on more days than not.  I'd like to swim a little a little faster and enjoy the ride.

In a month I'll be headed to a training camp with my QT2 Systems professional teammates to spend 3 weeks learning and growing as athletes.  We'll have the chance to train in an environment that really pushes us to the limits and work closely with coach Jesse which I am super excited about right now.  PLUS I'll get out of this freezing weather that has been one monster winter so far.

Most of the time I am running in THIS (below).

It's been tough to keep my heart rate where it's supposed to be on the downhills because the roads are so covered and icy.  I'll be glad to get to Florida to do a bit of training in some decent conditions!

Best of luck to you as your plan your schedule!  Where are you headed this year?? Excited!!?

LOVED the comments on my last blog.  You all made me laugh repeatedly.  Glad you enjoyed that one!  You have to have fun and laugh at yourself sometimes right??!

“I would rather be ashes than dust!
I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot.
I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.
The function of man is to live, not to exist.
I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them.
I shall use my time.”
