Sometimes a dream is all it takes.. Ironman World Championships 2013

Sometimes it's tough to dream.  It's scary.  We can see the possibilities stretching out before us beckoning us, calling our name.  We can feel our heart beating out of our chest before the cannon sounds, the roar of the crowd, the wind up to Hawi pushing and pulling you, the asphalt of the Queen K radiating waves of heat.  Each day you wake up and put in the work.  Your blood, sweat and tears stain the mat below your trainer.  In the end, you just want to see how things turn out.  You just need a shot, a chance and you keep believing that things can come together if they are meant to be.

I had a dream.  I still do.  This isn't the end of that dream.  It's only the beginning.

Last week, I punched my ticket to stand at the starting line with the top 35 women of 2013 in the world at the Ironman Distance on October 12th in Kona, Hawaii.  It was a tense week (many of you were going through that tense week with me - you know who you are so THANK YOU.  In the end, I received my roll down slot on Thursday evening.  I believe I am meant to be there and welcome the opportunity to compete with these amazingly talented women.  I've had two experiences at the World Champs as an amateur.  My first Ironman was there in 2008.   One of my races there went well and the other was a pretty big disaster.  The Island can definitely eat you up and spit you out.  I'm hoping to turn the tables and make it two good experiences this October. I can't wait!

Thanks to everyone who has been a part of this journey.  There are too many to name, but it's a team effort.  No one does this alone.  It's impossible.  Thank you all for being a part of this journey to the start line.  Now it's time to get to work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
